Harrogate man diagnosed with rare bone cancer fundraising for life-saving treatment

A 24-year-old man from Harrogate is fundraising for life-saving treatment after being diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

James Hindmarsh was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) last year and has been told that private medical treatment is his only chance of survival. Having endured numerous types of treatment including both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, James has been told that there are no 'proven treatments' left and he will have to pursue options privately outside of the NHS. [caption id="attachment_8408" align="aligncenter" width="594"] James has undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy but both have been unsuccessful.[/caption] James' family, friends and colleagues are taking on different fundraising challenges to help him raise the money, including running three marathons in three days, climbing the Yorkshire and National 3 peaks and a 1,828 vertical metre ski-tour across Verbier. Nicola Allen, James' colleague at The DSG Group and creator of a JustGiving page in his name, said:

"Our aim is to raise as much money as possible to provide James with the private treatment and pain relief he needs. "We are lucky to have James in our team and want to do what we can to help get him back where he belongs!"

James’ friends are urging people to give as much or as little as they can to help James receive the life-saving treatment he needs.
