North Yorkshire Police have revealed a further 20 fines for breaking coronavirus regulations have been given out in the Harrogate district in the past week, as the senior officer leading their response to Covid warns "we're not home and dry yet". It brings the total number of coronavirus fixed penalty notices handed out in the Harrogate district since the start of the third lockdown to 107. Looking at the latest 20 fines in more detail, 11 were given to local residents and nine to visitors. Most of them went to men (17), with just three handed out to women. Twelve were issued for being outside the place of living, six for an indoor gathering and two for an outdoor gathering. Superintendent Mike Walker, of North Yorkshire Police, said:

“We are not at the point where we can abandon social distancing and all the other precautions we’ve been taking over the past year and just throw caution to the wind. “We will keep on policing the regulations and taking enforcement action against breaches, we will keep sending out patrols and we will keep engaging with the public , to protect all of our chances of moving out of lockdown as quickly and safely as possible.”
