Harrogate Cricket Club say they’re ‘delighted’ that full-time professional cricketer Pheobe Graham is to become their ambassador for Women and Girls’ cricket.

Phoebe, who is contracted to Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the Northern Diamonds, will provide coaching to their growing girls section on a regular basis.

She will also act as a consultant to advise the Club on how best to expand the Women and Girls section and to grow the game in the Harrogate district.

Phoebe, who is an opening bowler and qualified coach, will advise Harrogate Cricket Club on formulating a schools’ programme to try and encourage more girls to take up cricket, along with helping them consider how best to work with other clubs in the area to strengthen and promote women and girls’ cricket in general.

Alongside her cricketing career, Phoebe also runs a gender equality consultancy called TipnFlip, delivering talks to ‘tipnflip’ perceptions which advocate equality in sport and the workplace.

For the first time ever, Harrogate’s girls’ section has entered a team in to the Nidderdale Under 13 boys league, building on the excellent work done by head junior coach Andy Hawkswell, along with Nat Crossland and Tim Robinson to develop our girls’ section to this point.

Chairman at Harrogate Cricket Club Steve Clark, said:

“This new partnership is an incredibly exciting one. We hope it will be a long-lasting relationship that ensures that women and girls’ cricket continues to grow and thrive in Harrogate.”

Phoebe Graham said:

“I’m really excited to partner with Harrogate CC to help grow their women and girl’s section. Providing women and girls with opportunities to play sport is something that I am extremely passionate about and I love Harrogate’s commitment and long-term ambitions to grow the female section. An exciting summer ahead!”
