Name:St Peter’s Brafferton CE VA Primary School
Headteacher: Mrs Sarah Anderson
Welcome to St Peter’s Brafferton CE VA Primary School! We are located in Brafferton, Helperby, which is a short distance from Boroughbridge and Easingwold.
We are a caring, inclusive and family orientated school with a strong community ethos.
I am so proud to be Head of this caring community of learners with a fantastic staff team, dedicated Governors, supportive parents and happy, engaged children.
We believe that education is about the entire child, their well-being and enrichment as well as their academic achievement.
We strive hard to ensure academic success; an engaging curriculum with fantastic learning experiences; a rich outdoor environment and we pride ourselves on excellent early year’s provision.
Wider learning opportunities
We enhance our curriculum with wider learning opportunities such as sports coaches in school every week; singing lessons; forest schools for every class, swimming opportunities from Reception to Year 6 and lots of experience days such as a climbing wall in school, school trips to museums and the pantomime.
We believe that widening the children’s learning experiences develops the whole child and encompasses our core values; kindness, inclusivity and community.
We have a fantastic preschool open to 2, 3 and 4 year olds all year round.
This is a governor led provision which works closely with the school ensuring that transition is smooth.
The children thrive on a child led provision guided by experienced early years staff.
We have a wonderful outdoor area and preschoolers experience forest school sessions.
We have wrap around care with our before and after school club and holiday club.
We also offer a wide range of clubs at lunchtimes and after school including Lego club, Wellbeing Wednesday club, art club, netball club and multi skills club, band and string club.
We are proud to be St Peter’s! Here is what our Year 6’s have to say:
“I enjoy how the teacher’s make learning fun! I remember the time we did an Antarctica experience day because I learnt a lot about Antarctica and Captain Scott.” Olivia, Y6
“We do fun experiences such as trips and clubs. My favourite trip was our residential to Carlton Lodge but I also loved the climbing wall at school” Zander, Y6
“I like it when we are given the role of decorating the library for each event or season. We are school librarians and help the younger children read and choose books every week.” Louisa, Y6
“We have a school council where we always use everyone’s ideas to make the school a better place” Fin, Y6
“The teachers try their best to make sure we have fun whilst at the same time learning lots of new skills” Emily, Y6
