About St Nicholas

A warm welcome to you from St Nicholas C of E School, West Tanfield.

Our vision drives everything we do at St Nicholas.

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ John 10:10 and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’ Philippians 2:15; to have the courage to act with kindness, patience, love and peace in all the communities they serve in.

Our aspirational curriculum, pastoral care and enrichment activities are all carefully planned to ensure that our children thrive both academically and emotionally and live out our vision.

St Nicholas C of E offers small class sizes, beautiful grounds and wrap around care. We are a happy school, where we work together as a team and are extremely proud of our children, staff and school.

At St Nicholas C of E we are committed to offering our children a high quality, dynamic curriculum which also includes many opportunities for real life learning and enrichment.

Madeleine runs our forest school session each week for all children on site; we are so lucky to have our own designated forest school area in our amazing school grounds.

Mrs Harris, our specialist music teacher, also offers music or vocal tuition.

We take part in family services at our local church each month and hold messy church sessions after school once a term.

Our children have also enjoyed residential visits, joined with other schools to perform at venues as a choir, attended inter-school sporting competitions and have taken part in a variety of trips such as meeting authors, enjoying museum visits, virtual tours, cookery sessions, science workshops and much more.
