Introducing: Eleanor Goddard
Company name: Furnish & Fettle
Company website: www.furnishandfettle.co.uk

This week we caught up with Eleanor Goddard from Furnish & Fettle, who, despite having had to close their doors during lockdown, are still helping people revamp their homes…

When was the company founded and how has it grown?

Furnish & Fettle was created when my husband Glyn and I bought James Brindley in Wetherby in June 2016 (actually on the day the Brexit vote was announced!).  We now also have showrooms in Harrogate and Pocklington and have recently just launched our sister brand one6 design which focuses on commercial interior design.

Why do you stand out from your competition?

We are down to earth and friendly – a lot of people are nervous about using the services of an interior designer, so we try really hard to make the process as straightforward, flexible and enjoyable as possible.

How has Covid affected your business and how did you cope?

Obviously this year hasn’t been without it’s challenges, but we have been fortunate that when we have reopened our doors after both lockdowns demand has been strong. It’s also given us the opportunity to think about how we work and to re-model the business to provide an even better level of service for our clients.

Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?

Jacinda Ardern – she just seems like she is so on it and well respected.  I would love to know if she really is as perfect in real life!

What advice would you give the next generation starting their careers?

Do something you love as you will be doing it for a long time.  If you are doing something you are truly passionate about it won’t feel like work and you have the best chance of being successful.

Why do you like doing business in Yorkshire?

Yorkshire is such a great place to live and work as it’s so well connected to the rest of the UK and also so diverse.  One minute you can be in beautiful countryside the next in the centre of thriving city.

Who would benefit from working with an interior designer

Anyone that wants their home or their business premises to look fabulous!  Our service is all about making it as easy as possible for our clients to get the finished look they want with the minimum amount of stress.  We work on projects of all sizes and all budgets from a pair of bespoke curtains to a full property redesign.
