Organisers of the annual Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta have announced that the event will be held at an earlier date than planned.

The event, which was originally due to take place in September, has now been moved to August bank holiday weekend (Friday 27th August – Monday 30th August) due to an unforeseen change in the York Races calendar.

The Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta, which transforms the skies with over 50 giant colourful Hot Air Balloons, usually sees over 35,000 visitors and is held on the Knavesmire.

Event Organiser John Lowery said:

“Whilst we are disappointed to lose our September dates we intend to give people a real good family weekend. We want to party like it’s not 2020!”

Organisers have confirmed that the event will be fenced off and will adhere to any government guidance related to the pandemic i.e. limited capacity, sanitising stations, track and trace etc.

Tickets for this newly scheduled event will go on sale from Friday 19th March at 8.30am here.
