Leading Dementia care specialist Vida Healthcare has boosted the wages of its frontline care staff by 30 per cent.

They’ve increased the hourly pay for qualified care assistants from £9.61 per hour to £12.32, while nurses have seen their hourly rate increase from £18.50 per hour to £22.50.

This would see carers earning £28,800 per year, whilst nurses would earn £52,500 per year.

The move will also see a 20% uplift for overtime.

Other positions within Vida Healthcare have seen pay rises including bank care assistants, senior care assistants and team leaders.

Vida made the decision in an effort to combat the national care staff crisis and attract new talent to the industry.

Managing Director James Rycroft said:

“Despite leaders in the sector advising that care staff are looking for more than wage increases, at Vida it’s not only important that we’re attracting new talent to the sector but that we’re also rewarding our existing staff for the hard work and dedication they demonstrate every day.

“This wage increase is just one initiative we’ve put in place to show our staff how proud and grateful we are for their incredible work, particularly throughout these challenging times.”

Vida Healthcare also offer a range of initiatives to encourage the retention of current staff and attract new talent.

This includes its specialist training platform Vida Academy, which offers a bespoke professional development training pathway and provides opportunities to achieve promotions and learn caring skills.
