Vandals attack Ripon's historic cabmen's shelter

The historic cabmen's shelter in Ripon's market place has been attacked by vandals.

The historic cabmen's shelter in Ripon's market place has been attacked by vandals. A window was smashed sometime between Friday 12th and Monday 15th March. The cabmen's shelter is Grade II listed and dates from 1911. Historic England say it's "a nationally rare and well preserved example of a cabmen's shelter", and describe it as "an important reminder of the importance of horse-drawn transport in the early twentieth century". Police are investigating the damage, and are keen to narrow down when it happened and identify those responsible. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police by calling 101, selecting option 2, and asking for Clare Mayes. You can also email Clare.Mayes@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk If you wish to remain anonymous, you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
