Town captain confident that togetherness of squad will reverse home form

Harrogate Town captain Josh Falkingham is confident the togetherness and unity within the squad will help them turn around their poor home form. The club have suffered four consecutive home defeats in the league, a run that stems back to mid-October. Town have won just once at the EnviroVent Stadium in their previous six in all competitions - a 2-1 FA Cup victory against Wrexham. But the club's captain has said the team are dedicated to turn results around after the large attendance figures from home fans. He said:

"It’s been a disappointing week for us all especially after the high of the FA Cup victory down at Portsmouth. But to go from that to back-to-back home defeats, albeit to tough opposition, the lads are feeling it.

"After a really good start, our home form has taken a turn and we need to put that right. If you’re going to have a successful season, home form is crucial.

"The fans have been turning out in numbers and the atmosphere has been brilliant, and we as players feel it just as much as the fans do after the games.

"We’ll be doing everything we can to turn that home form around and put things right, especially when they’re turning out in their numbers as they are."

The club have enjoyed fantastic success in recent seasons on their climb to League Two for the first time in the club's history. And Josh has put that down to the unity and togetherness in the dressing room, among both players and management. He said:

"That’s been a massive part of the success - because the group, the dressing room and the management, we’ve all stuck together especially in times like this.

"We are hurting but we will stick together, we’ll regroup and hopefully have a really good Christmas period because we know how important it is.

"We’ve got a lot of games in a short space of time, football doesn’t allow you to ponder over results because there’s always that next game around the corner."

Town visit Sutton United on Saturday, a newly promoted side who currently sit sixth in League Two after an impressive start. And having played the U's previously in the National League, Josh knows what a tough game it will be. He said:

"We know how tough it is to go to Sutton. They’re flying this season having just come into the league and rode the wave and even more so because of how they’ve managed to sustain that form.

"They’ve been hugely impressive and we’ll know 100% how much of a tough game we’ll have.

"We’ll be doing everything we can to make sure that we’re travelling back up the road with a huge three points just before Christmas."
