Town boss praises 'superb' atmosphere from record-breaking crowd

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver has praised the 'incredible' atmosphere in his side's 6-1 win over Scunthorpe - and admitted it's his job to keep the players grounded. Town raced to a 5-0 half time lead over Scunthorpe last Saturday before securing the win to take them up to second spot in League Two. And the players performed in front of a record-high crowd of 3,180 at the EnviroVent Stadium. Simon said:

"The first half we set off like a train and if every Saturday afternoon was like that it would be incredible. You’ve just got to enjoy it and the players and the crowd certainly did.

"The atmosphere was absolutely superb. Just in the warmup, looking out at all four sides of the ground filling up, you just know it’ll be a fantastic atmosphere."

Summer signing Danilo Orsi was on the scoresheet again, taking his total to five goals. And Simon admitted that the striker - who has only started three games for the club - is being mentioned at home by his wife. He said:

"It’s good to have competition for places as it pushes everyone else. The lads who are out of the starting 11 are excelling in training and in the games.

"They’ve got to feel valued and know they’re not a million miles from the starting eleven.

"It’s becoming a problem at home! My wife keeps saying ‘hasn’t Danilo scored five goals and you’re not starting him?’ It’s a good problem to have."

Simon Weaver's side travel to Colchester United in League Two this weekend in another fixture against a side towards the bottom of the table. But it's these sides that Town need to be wary of, according to Simon. He said:

"They're another slippery side. The attacking four can play really intricate stuff and cause problems.

"You can get sucked into a false sense of security like we did last year.

"But hopefully we’re maturing as a side, a unit and as a club. We can’t take anything for granted.

"If we want the feel-good factor to continue, we need to go to places like this and get at least a point."
