Popular gin tasting experiences at Spirit of Harrogate have moved to a virtual format to allow customers to take part from the comfort of their own home.

The Spirit of Harrogate have been forced to move online due to social distancing guidelines and the second national lockdown preventing customers from visiting the Harrogate shop.

And so the creators of Slingsby Gin will be holding experiences interactively in which they send customers an experience pack in the post and host experiences via Zoom.

Those taking part in the 90-minute experiences are sent four different gins and tonics, snacks and a branded Slingsby glass to allow them to take part from home.

Seven guests can take part in each experience, which allows people from all over the country to get involved.

Lucy Carthy, Retail Supervisor at Spirit of Harrogate, said:

“It’s been really nice so far, because we’ve had families from opposite ends of the country who can’t physically meet but can meet over Zoom and have a drink together.

“It’s been great bonding people and giving them something to look forward to, and just making people happy in the build up to Christmas – because what makes you happier than receiving a bottle of gin in the post!”

Spirit of Harrogate in lockdown

With a second national lockdown forcing all non-essential shops to close, Spirit of Harrogate have closed their shop on Montpellier Parade as of today (Thursday).

However they still have a wide range of different products available online, and will be offering delivery across the country via their courier.

Slingsby Gin and tonic

Slingsby’s wide range of products will still be available online during lockdown!

The Spirit of Harrogate team will also be delivering locally completely free, as well as getting involved with local ‘Meals of Wheels’ initatives throughout lockdown.

Lucy added:

“We’re just trying to adapt and roll with the punches, and still provide our customers with Slingsby Gin which everyone wants during lockdown!

“But we’re also trying to help others at the same time – Spirit of Harrogate is such a big part of the community so we’re heavily involved in charity work as it’s something that we wanted to do if we had the opportunity to.”
