Schools invited to Great Yorkshire Showground for 'National Apple Day'

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society are inviting schools to the Great Yorkshire Showground next month for 'National Apple Day' festivities.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) are inviting schools to the Great Yorkshire Showground next month for 'National Apple Day' festivities. National Apple Day is a annual celebration of apples and orchards across the country. And YAS are set to host a variety of apple-themed workshops, including juicing and baking, for local schoolchildren. A spokesperson for YAS said:

"Every year we invite schools to come and visit our orchard at the Great Yorkshire Showground in October to celebrate National Apple Day. "We have a selection of Yorkshire Heritage Trees including Yorkshire Beauty, Grandpa Buxton and even Dog’s Snout!
The day takes place on Wednesday 13th October at the Great Yorkshire Showground, starting at 9:30am. A spokesperson added:
"Children take part in a juicing workshop as well as preparing a baked apple to take home and bake for their pudding that night!"
Spaces are limited to 30 children per school and the event is suitable for KS1 & KS2 groups. To book, email education@yas.co.uk with the following: School name, address & phone number Lead teacher name Number of pupils and year group Your preference of a Morning (9.30am – 12noon) or Afternoon (12.30pm – 3pm) session
