The Knaresborough Christmas tree lights switch on takes place later today (Friday).

The event starts at 5:30pm in Knaresborough Market Place, with the lights being switched on at 6:30pm.

And to allow for parking and for the entertainment, roads will be closed at 5pm from Brymore Ice Cream to Market Tavern.

This is a 45-minute closure to allow for the children’s lantern parade from Knaresborough Castle, starting at 6pm.

Market Place East and West and Silver Street will also be closed from 12pm to clear the parking areas.

Ahead of the event, a spokesperson for Knaresborough Town Council said:

“We would ask that you please be considerate of others who may wish to wear a mask and follow social distancing.”

Street food and mulled wine will be available, alongside performances from Knaresborough Silver Band and the Choral Society.
