The people of Ripon are being encouraged to take a trip down the rabbit hole this weekend for a live performance of Alice in Wonderland.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will be bringing Lewis Carroll’s story to life for a performance at Ripon Spa Gardens on Sunday (5th September).

The show, which begins at 4pm, will include song, dance and original music, as well as all the costumes expected of Wonderland.

And the gardens will provide an apt backdrop for the show as they now contain a series of tree sculptures depicting characters such as Alice, Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit.

A reviewer, who saw the show in Nottingham, said:

“For the most part the audience were absorbed in the magic, even accepting an invitation to a very mad party with Alice and the White Rabbit where you’ll end up dancing and singing.”

Doors for the event open at 3pm, with the 90-minute production starting at 4pm.

Organisers have said the show will take place in all but the worst weather, but are encouraging audiences to bring their own deck chairs, rugs and picnics for the performance.

Tickets can only be purchased online here.
