Police Treatment Centre to host virtual cycle sportive fundraiser

A residential rehabilitation centre for police officers is holding a virtual fundraiser to allow them to continue supporting frontline workers. The Police Treatment Centres (PTC), who have rehab centres in Harrogate and Auchterarder in Scotland, provide physiotherapy and psychological support to serving and retired police officers. And this year the PTC is calling on support from the public as it takes its flagship 'Back on The Beat' Cycle Sportive online for the first time.

Between 10th and 16th May, the annual 'Back on the Beat' Cycle Sportive will ask supporters to get on their bikes and ride a total of 100km either on the road or on a static bike.

The funds raised through the event will ensure that the PTC can continue to provide support to the Police Family, not only in North Yorkshire but nationally.

The charity was forced to close its doors to patients for most of 2020 and 2021 so far, and lost a considerable amount of income in the process. However the PTC has vowed to make a "concerted effort" to recoup these losses and ensure that they can provide expert care to the Police Family, at a time when they will need support the most.

If you would like to take part in the Virtual Cycle Sportive, or would like to find out more about the work of the charity, you can here.

Police Treatment Centres

The Police Treatment Centres is a registered charity which operates two centres where injured and ill police officers receive intensive physiotherapy, recuperation and complementary treatments to help them return to work sooner.

The PTC continued to support Officers throughout 2020 by providing virtual physiotherapy sessions, telephone appointments and access to a Mental Health Support App. However, they are pleased to announce that they will be safely re-opening their doors to patients at the end of April 2021.

The PTC normally make a difference to the lives of around four thousand Officers each year from 27 forces in England, North Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as British Transport Police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary and Ministry of Defence Police.
