Outdoor sport resumes as lockdown rules ease in the Harrogate district

Outdoor sports facilities, including golf courses and tennis courts, are re-opening across the Harrogate district today as lockdown restrictions are eased.

Outdoor sports facilities, including golf courses and tennis courts, are re-opening across the Harrogate district today as lockdown restrictions are eased. Other changes from today include the lifting of the 'stay at home' rule, and we can now meet up outdoors in parks and gardens in groups of up to six people, or two households. Among the sports clubs looking forward to welcoming back members is Pannal Golf Club. It's general manager David Tilbury said:

"It has been a very tough start to the year for golf, and obviously our members are desperate to get back out onto the golf course again. "It will be great to see all the members again, who've been a fantastic support through this, it shows the culture of the club that everyone is with you through the good and bad times. "After the first lockdown, we were only given 48 hours notice to re-open, whereas this time we were given over a month's notice, so we were able to put a date in the diary and work towards that date and make it as safe as possible to return. "Golf is probably one of the most socially distanced sports that can be played.  "We're really looking forward to welcoming members back"
