Nidderdale Show organisers "cautiously optimistic" that event will go ahead

Nidderdale Show organisers have said they are "cautiously optimistic" about putting on the show in September this year.

Nidderdale Show organisers have said they are "cautiously optimistic" about putting on the show in September this year. The government's road map out of lockdown has allowed annual shows across the Harrogate district to put plans in place to go ahead later this year. However Nidderdale Show organisers are aware of potential changes to the government's road map, and have vowed to "keep reviewing plans as Government guidelines change." The show is currently aiming to take place on Monday 20th September 2021, however organisers have asked visitors to keep an eye on their social media pages for announcements. https://www.facebook.com/NidderdaleShow/posts/3589177881192658 Chairman of the Nidderdale Show Martin Grayshon told Your Harrogate that the show committee will be guided by the local authority:

"It all depends on whether there are any more spikes between now and then, and what the local authority will allow us to do when the restrictions are lifted. "We're currently getting quotes so that we don't incur any costs until we can confirm the show will go ahead, and then we can start thinking about marquees, catering and main ring attractions."
The committee have already begun thinking about safety measures that the show will need to put in place, and Martin admitted it will be a very different Nidderdale Show this year. He added:
"Our health and safety officers are going to be very busy and we may need to ask for more volunteers to help us stick to the covid restrictions, and of course there will be plenty of social distancing."
