A transit van driver has been arrested after testing positive on a drug wipe in Flaxby, near Knaresborough.
Police pulled over the red Ford Transit van in the village on Wednesday 5th January 2022.
After a search, the driver was found to be in possession of a class B drug.
Sgt Paul Cording said:
“The vehicle was stopped by my colleague TC Tunney at Flaxby after her “coppers nose” started twitching.
“The driver was found in possession of cannabis and tested positive on a drug wipe.”
Police made the arrest and obtained bloods, which will be sent to forensic officers for analysis.
The arrest comes just days after a man was arrested in Kirkby Malzeard for driving at almost six times over the legal drink-driving limit.
A two-vehicle collision on New Year’s Eve led to the arrest of a man who blew 208ug of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35ug.
