Knaresborough Rotary Club launch laptop appeal for local schools

Knaresborough Rotary Club have launched a laptop appeal to help local schoolchildren who are learning from home during lockdown.

Knaresborough Rotary Club have launched a laptop appeal to help local schoolchildren who are learning from home during lockdown.

The club had previously negotiated a deal with Curry's PC World that has allowed them to donate laptops to King James, Boroughbridge High and Nidderdale High Schools.

But with greater demand for laptops and some children having no access to the internet at home, Rotary in Knaresborough are asking for help to support primary schoolchildren in the area.

A spokesperson for the club said:

"The need is national, but also on our own doorstep. Rotary in Knaresborough has donated laptops to King James’s School, Boroughbridge High School and Nidderdale High School and would now like to try and help primary schools, but the demand is greater than we can meet alone."

With laptops costing around £200 each, the club are asking for donations from the public, 'big or small'.

Donations can be made direct to Knaresborough Rotary Club by bank transfer at 60-12-26 and 76307557 adding reference ‘Laptops', or by sending a cheque to Knaresborough Rotary Club, Wharfedale, Arkendale Road, Staveley, HG5 9JX.
