Businesses in Knaresborough have voted against launching a Business Improvement District (BID).

153 votes were cast in the ballot which ran until 8th October, with 77 business owners voting against the idea.

BIDs are created to fund projects within the district’s boundaries to promote town centres and increase footfall.

But Knaresborough have rejected the concept which currently exists in Harrogate and Ripon.

The results of the ballot, revealed by Harrogate Borough Council, show that 300 businesses were eligible to vote.
