A Harrogate woman, whose father was branded 'the poorliest man in Harrogate', has launched a fundraising campaign to thank Harrogate Hospital for saving his life. Victoria Read saw her father admitted to hospital with Covid-19 in November, but, after the 'phenomenal' support from health workers, he was able to return home last week after three months of care. And, as a way of thanking those who saved his life, Victoria has started a JustGiving page for Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity and has already raised more than £1,000. https://twitter.com/CovidHg/status/1354576208755904512 Speaking about the fundraising campaign, Victoria said:
"I've always known I've wanted to do it - and it's horrible that it's take something like this for me to do it, but I said when my dad is able to come home I'd like to dedicate time to support the people at Harrogate Hospital that saved his life. "The care that he got was absolutely phenomenal - the whole team were just incredible and they continued to support him day in day out."Victoria's father was admitted to Harrogate Hospital in November before his condition deteriorated, causing him to be placed in an induced coma for three weeks. Health workers at the hospital branded him 'the poorliest man in Harrogate', something that Victoria described as 'terrifying':
"It was really impactful on the whole family, especially when he was ventilated and we couldn't talk to him. At one point you just don't know if they're going to wake up. "There's hundreds of people going though something similar today, and my heart goes out to them because it's just a horrible horrible situation to be in."https://twitter.com/HarrogateNHSFT/status/1354829846468325381 Victoria started her fundraising campaign last week and has already received support from across the area, raising over £1,000 of her £10,000 target. She added:
