A scout group in Harrogate faces closure if they cannot recruit more volunteers.

The 15th Harrogate Scout Group are appealing for ‘leaders’ to help them deliver their scout programme to 10-14-year-olds.

The scout group is 68-years-old and one of the oldest in the Harrogate district.

But they’ll be forced to close the scout section of their offering if they cannot recruit more volunteers.

Group Scout Leader Petra Koristkova said:

“The pandemic wasn’t kind to us and we have lost a number of leaders. However, we have lot of new young people and many more on the waiting list.

“If we don’t know find more leaders soon, we will be forced to close one of our sections and the young people will not be able to continue their scouting journey and to learn more skills for life.”

The Cubs and Beavers at 15th Harrogate Scout Group take camping trips as part of their learning.

The group are looking for ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘energetic’ volunteers who do not need to have previous scouting experience.

The group offer ‘beavers’ for 6-8-year-olds, cubs for 8-10-year-olds and scouts for 10.5-14-year-olds.
