Harrogate Mumbler's 'Top 5 Festive Events' around Harrogate

The team at Harrogate Mumbler have put together their top 5 festive events for the whole family in the Harrogate area this Christmas!

Yes, it's that time already! The Elf on the Shelf is back, Advent Calendars are open, decorations are being brought down from the loft and your street might be starting to resemble Blackpool Illuminations!

Christmas is THE family holiday! Although things are going to be a bit different this year, there is still lots to look forward to doing, out and about or at home. We've got plenty of ideas on how to keep the magic of Christmas this year and details of activities during the Christmas Holiday to keep your mini-mumblers happy. Click here to jump straight to the Harrogate Mumbler Christmas page. Here are our top 5 picks of festive events and things to do: Harrogate BID FREE Christmas Trail

We’ve teamed up with Harrogate BID again to bring you a brilliant FREE Christmas Trail around town!  The Trail is on now, and will run throughout the Christmas holidays until Sunday 3rd January 2021. The trail is Covid-19 secure and we hope this will encourage families to visit Harrogate Town centre!

There is a free prize for everyone who completes the trail – plus an amazing Christmas Hamper to be won – worth over £500 if you can unscramble our festive phrase (competition closes 21st December)!

You just need to download your answer sheet and away you go!  All details can be found here.

The Naughty Elf, North Pole Post Office and Christmas Lights

More free events for you to enjoy in town – courtesy of Harrogate BID and Harrogate International Festival.

The Naughty Elf has been causing trouble at some of Harrogate’s most famous shops and landmarks!  He’s back in town on 17th December every day until 22nd December!

The Christmas lights this year are magical!  We especially love the big present near the Cenotaph – some great photo opportunities!  And don’t forget to post of your letter to Santa at the magical North Pole Post Office on Cheltenham Parade – open until Christmas Eve!

Mother Shipton’s: Winter Woodland Walk

A gorgeous Winter Woodland Walk with lots of festive delights and twinkling lights to see along the way! The magic of Christmas is here; Santa will be visiting and giving children a special wave from his safe and cosy grotto, and his festive friends are taking up residence in their very own Christmas Village.

Running until Christmas Eve – booking is essential!

Stump Cross Caverns: Rockin’ Santa and Ultraviolet New Year’s Eve

Stump Cross is a great place to visit at Christmas!  Open every day for the rest of the year (apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

The caves are a great family day out – they also have Rockin’ Santa up there until Christmas Eve.  You can also rent their cinema room out for a festive family movie over the holidays.  Their popular UV Thursdays return on New Year's Eve from 4pm- 8pm.

Experience the natural UV chemistry of their caves with a self-guided torch lit UV tour! Booking online recommended!

Activities to do at home

We have plenty of ideas to keep the whole family entertained at home too over the festive period!  Granny Mumbler has been busy creating some beautiful FREE downloadable Christmas activity sheets for everyone to enjoy!  Make your own Christmas cards, to colouring in – my little girl loves them!  You can download them all here.

We’ve also been busy baking – read some of our favourite festive bakes in our Great Christmas Bake-off blog.

At 6pm on Christmas Eve don’t forget to take part in the Christmas Eve Jingle!

Finally, Christmas isn’t Christmas without Christmas movies – we've compiled a list of all our favourite family movies showing on TV over Christmas. Take a look right here.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!
