A Harrogate hotel is predicting a summer ‘staycation’ bonanza for the spa town, after taking a record number of bookings.

Over the last few weeks, the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa has taken hundreds of bookings for the school summer holiday, with one August weekend already fully booked.

Hotel manager Andy Barnsdale said the continued uncertainty about foreign travel meant the UK was always going to be dominating destination for holidaying Brits this year.

Mr Barnsdale said:

“Bookings this summer are already through the roof, which is fantastic news for us and for the Harrogate District too.

“Harrogate is a great destination and has so much to offer. Very few towns in the UK have the appeal of Harrogate. It is a beautiful town with so much on its doorstep, and a great base for exploring the district and beyond.

“We are in the process of getting the hotel ready for the re-start of alfresco dining and drinking on Monday, April 12. The finishing touches are being put to a new menu and we are beginning to bring staff back in readiness for this momentous occasion.

“The Harrogate Spa is also reopening on what we are hoping will be a ‘Glorious 12th’, and again the spa team and therapists are ensuring it will be looking in pristine condition.

“We are particularly looking forward to fully reopening from Monday, May 17, when we are once again able to re-open our bedrooms to leisure guests, and our function rooms to host events, dinners, lunches, parties, and weddings.

“For more than a century, The Majestic has been welcoming guests from all over the world. We can’t wait until we are able to do so again.”
