Two young entrepreneurs from Harrogate are selling trainer storage to the stars after starting a business during lockdown.

Business partners Dan Hibbard and Aden McCarthy started sneaker storage provider ‘SoleCube’ from Dan’s gran’s house in October 2020.

The pair met via Instagram after Aden showed an interest in Dan’s personal trainer collection, which he was selling on his own account.

SoleCube launched in 2020 and is already providing products for a number of celebrities.

After striking up a friendship, the two entrepreneurs launched SoleCube and are now providing their service for celebrities including Manchester United player D’Mani Mellor and Leeds-based rap artist ‘Graft.’

22-year-old Dan Hibbard told Your Harrogate:

“We know a lot of people are into trainers, including me and Aden, and throughout lockdown a lot of people were buying them.

“We just didn’t have anywhere to store them, they were all over our bedrooms, so we came up with our own solution in SoleCube.”

SoleCube’s storage boxes allow customers to store and display up to 30 pairs of trainers, either horizontally or vertically.

The business initially started as a regional service but Dan and Aden are currently receiving orders from London, Manchester and throughout the UK.

Dan added:

“You don’t have to be a collector to own a SoleCube.

“We find that all sorts of people are buying them, and a lot of parents are buying them for their children.”

Despite the success of the business in such a short space of time, Dan is determined to continue to grow the brand and eventually branch out to America.

He said:

“There’s still a long way to go for us. It’s nice that we’ve got a lot of customers and I appreciate all the support we’ve had from people.

“It’s still early days but it’s good to break down a few barriers early – the growth has been quick!”
