The first coronavirus death in almost two weeks has been recorded at Harrogate District Hospital.

The patient, who’d tested positive for Covid-19, died on Monday.

It takes the total number of coronavirus deaths at the hospital to 178.

Meanwhile, the rate of coronavirus infections in the Harrogate district has continued to fall in the past week.

The latest figure puts the seven-day rolling average at 34.2 cases per 100,000 people.

That’s a big difference from the figure in early January, when it hit a peak of almost 500 cases per 100,000 people.
