Vida Healthcare have kicked off 2021 with some fantastic news as they have revealed over 120 of their residents and staff have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Residents and Vida employees were given the vaccine on New Year’s Eve at Vida Grange Care Home in Pannal, Harrogate.

Bernadette Mossman, Healthcare Director at Vida, spoke of her delight at the news on Vida’s ‘Living with Dementia’ podcast:

“We entered into 2021 at Vida Healthcare with some real positivity. At Vida Grange on New Year’s Eve we were able to vaccinate over 120 residents and staff and that is a fantastic piece of news!

“We moved into the new year knowing that within the week we should have all of our residents vaccinated and a great number of our staff.

“We’re really really excited about that. We’re obviously in a difficult time and the spread of the virus is critical, so for us it’s about taking every possible measure to safeguard our residents, staff and our families.”

Vida Healthcare have employed strict measures throughout the pandemic, ensuring prevention control measures in place to keep their residents and staff safe.

They’ve also been strict in their adherence to policy with regards to visiting, and how staff travel around the home and outside the home.

Bernadette added:

“The message is still clear – we’re not safe yet, we’re not through this yet and it’s about making sure we’re robust in our processes.

“It’s also key to communicate with people. People want to know facts, they want to know where we are, what we’re doing and why we’re doing it because everyone wants the same thing.”
