A Harrogate architects practice have completed a whopping 1,800 miles as part of their fundraising challenge for Disability Action Yorkshire.
S+SA architects undertook an in-house challenge to run, walk or cycle a combined distance of 1,800 miles, which they successfully achieved in 16 weeks and raised more than £600 for the charity.
The team chose to take on the challenge after their usual sponsored cycle, which has raised in excess of £3,000 for Disability Action Yorkshire, was cancelled due to Covid-19.
S+SA Architects Business Manager Ellie Smith said:
“We were really disappointed not to be able to stage a sponsored ride this year. However, not wanting to let Disability Action Yorkshire down, we undertook a team challenge instead.
“We measured the distance we travelled on an app and kept a weekly tally of the combined miles we had covered. We are a pretty active bunch, and physical activity is important for us.
“This was a team effort and one that has also helped raise funds for Disability Action Yorkshire.”
Jackie Snape, Disability Action Yorkshire Chief Executive, said:
“Once again I’d like to say a big thank you to Ellie and the S+SA Architects team.
“Their continued support means a great deal to us, and whilst our fund-raising activities have been curtailed by coronavirus, this donation is very gratefully received.”
