Fountains Abbey near Ripon will be closed tomorrow (Saturday) due to Storm Arwen.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds across the North of England over the weekend.

And the incoming winds have forced Fountains Abbey to close its doors to visitors for safety reasons.

A spokesperson said:

“Storm Arwen is making a gale force visit to Fountains tomorrow and to keep everyone safe the estate will be closed on Saturday 27th November.

“This includes Studley deer park as well as the abbey, water garden, visitor centre and car parks.

“We’re so sorry to disappoint anyone who was planning a visit and hope you’ll be able to come again another day.”

Fountains Abbey is hoping to open as usual on Sunday but have asked visitors to check their website and social media channels beforehand.
