Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal National Trust have shared photos from the aftermath of Storm Christoph, with the extreme weather taking its toll on the world heritage site.
Storm Christoph has caused major disruption across the Harrogate district in the last few days, with some areas facing road closures and flooding.
And Fountains Abbey, who have recently been forced to close to visitors due to snow and ice, claim that the extreme weather is a result of climate change – the “single biggest threat to landscapes” cared for by the National trust.

The National Trust last week revealed plans for their ‘Skell Valley Project’ – a £2.5 million scheme to improve the resilience of the Skell Valley and protect Fountains Abbey from floods caused by climate change.
