First look at Otley Baths transformation if fundraising campaign is successful

An artist's impression has revealed how Otley Baths could look if a Crowdfunding campaign is successful in revamping it.

An artist's impression has revealed how Otley Baths could look if a Crowdfunding campaign is successful. A community group is nearing its fundraising target to transform the 'derelict' Otley Baths into a modern all-year leisure venue. The Friends of Otley Lido are aiming to raise £65,000 in total to completely transform the facilities. Plans include a 25-30m heated lido with a retractable roof, as well as a gym, cafe/restaurant, health and well-being facilities including a new home for the bowls club. The group have raised £12,000 towards the cost of Phase 1, which comprises of specialist studies and professional services relating to the site. However, to complete this phase they still require £53,000 before the Crowdfunder deadline on 1st November. A spokesperson said:

"It's now or never in terms of raising the required funds to get us through this tricky first stage. "Once we are through this stage we can explore larger funding opportunities. We strongly believe we can do this together and we need your help now!"

"We are grateful to organisations and businesses who recognise the social, health and economic benefits our project will bring and have supported us in various ways. "To date over fifty organisations and businesses have provided grants, goods and services or fund-raised on our behalf. "We are particularly grateful for the strong support of the local community who have have provided valuable ideas and feedback, in addition to supporting our fundraising efforts."
The campaign has currently raised just over £48,000 of its £53,000 goal - but needs to raise the remainder before the deadline on 1st November. To support the campaign to transform Otley Baths, find the Crowdfunding page here. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
