New measures will see a lot of places forced to close until at least 2nd December, as well as tighter restrictions around mixing with other households:

  • Pubs and restaurants will be closed, although takeaways and deliveries may continue.
  • Non-essential shops, leisure and entertainment venues will close.
  • No households will be permitted to mix with others indoors or in gardens, unless in a support bubble.
  • Gyms will be closed.

Boris Johnson has also announced new advice around schools and work:

  • People must stay at home, but leaving the house for education and work is permitted.
  • Schools, universities and colleges will remain open.
  • Outdoor exercise is encouraged, and you will be allowed to meet one person outside your household.
  • Children with separated parents will be able to move between homes.

After 2nd December, different regions will return to the tier system in which they are placed in tier one to three depending on the rates of infection.
