The Covid-19 rate of infection in Harrogate has dropped to a new post-Christmas low, with less than 100 new cases per 100,000 people being reported in the district. According to new data from North Yorkshire County Council, the average number of daily cases across the Harrogate District has dropped to 97.6 per 100,000 - the first time this figure has fallen below 100 since 21st December. The latest milestone in reducing the spread of Coronavirus comes just days after Harrogate's rate of infection dropped below the average for North Yorkshire for just the second time since the turn of the year. The council has been reminding those who are in priority groups and have been invited to have their vaccination to take part in order to make sure the programme is "hitting targets and saving lives". North Yorkshire County Council Chief Executive Richard Flinton said:
"Having nearly completed the first dose vaccines for the first four groups, from over-80s to those over 70 and/or designated as extremely clinically vulnerable, the wider vaccination roll-out will commence. By way of a reminder, if you are in one of those groups and haven’t been offered a vaccine or you declined and have changed your mind, then you are invited to book a slot by calling 119 or doing so online. "A huge thank you must go to all the NHS staff and the many volunteers who are making sure this programme is hitting its targets and saving lives.
