The Covid-19 rate of infection for the Harrogate district has reduced by a massive 70% since this time last month.

On the 7th January, just after the start of the third national lockdown, the Harrogate district recorded 498 cases per 100,000.

However this number is now down to 151 cases per 100,000 people, meaning the rate of infection has seen a dramatic decrease in just one month.

Despite such a decrease, Harrogate is still slightly below the average for North Yorkshire when it comes to cases per 100,000 people, which is currently at 135.

Richard Flinton, Chief Executive at North Yorkshire County Council, said:

“We must all stay at home, making essential journeys only and maintaining social distancing at all times, wearing face coverings where advised.

“Please keep going North Yorkshire. Keep playing your part. It is so tough for everyone but we are right here with you every step of the way.”

The Richmondshire district currently has the most cases per 100,000 in the area with 171, however this number peaked at 575 before the third national lockdown came into place.
