The Harrogate covid rate of infection has reached its highest point since January - but it's three months since a covid death was recorded.

The Harrogate covid rate of infection has reached its highest point since January - but it's three months since a death was recorded in the area. The rate for Harrogate currently stands at 303.4 cases per 100,000 people, the highest figure since 17th January. And Harrogate is also seeing the highest number of cases in North Yorkshire, which as a whole is recording 248.2 cases per 100,000 people. But it's been more than three months since a covid related death was recorded in the area - the last of which came on 29th March. (Graph: northyorks.gov.uk)[/caption] Richard Flinton, Chief Executive of North Yorkshire County Council, said:

"Thankfully, the vaccine does seem to be having the desired impact. Although cases are rising, the number of those being hospitalised with the virus is significantly lower than in previous waves. "So perhaps it is timely to say a big thank you to all those who have helped bring us to this point over the past 16 months – some of the most challenging months in our history."
