Harrogate College is hosting a special event to help the local construction industry find out about funding and training opportunities.

The CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) funding awareness session takes place at the college on Thursday 26th May.

The event will give attendees the chance to find out about what support, in terms of grants, funding and training, is available.

The session runs from 8.30am to 9.30am and will include three short presentations including from John Long, of CITB, and Lorraine Kirbitson, from North Yorkshire Construction Training Group.

A representative from the college will also give an overview about its courses and apprenticeships, while showing visitors the facilities that are available in its construction department.

Harrogate College Principal Danny Wild said:

“As a college committed to tailoring our courses to meet the skills needs of local employers, we are always looking for ways to assist our district’s key sectors.

“Construction is a vital part of our economy and one which we support through a range of courses, covering everything from bricklaying and tiling to painting and decorating and carpentry, along with specialist training.

“So we are delighted to be hosting this funding event for the CITB. We hope to welcome many representatives from the district’s building industry on the day, when they can find out from the CITB about all the funding and training opportunities that are available locally.”

Attendees will also be able to find out how to access free training at the college, which is being funded by Zero Carbon Harrogate, later in the year.

The funding awareness session is open to anyone who works in the trades.
