Burst water main causes flooding in Ripon

A burst water main at a residential building in Ripon caused the entire ground floor to flood last night (Wednesday).

A burst water main at a residential building in Ripon caused the entire ground floor to flood last night (Wednesday). One fire crew from Ripon attended the incident at around 11pm and discovered the 4-inch water main had burst. The crew feared the water, which was affecting the entire ground floor, could also affect the electrics of the building. The North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue incident log said:

"The lift shaft was also flooded and crews isolated the water externally. Crews isolated power supply to lift shaft. "The crew then pumped out the lift shaft and attempted to remove as much water as possible using an ejector pump, hose lengths and small tools. "The incident was left with staff on site for engineers to attend."
Fire crews left the building at around midnight. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
