The ethos of the nursery is to create a calm and relaxed environment and allow children the freedom to choose materials and create using their imaginations.

Through relaxing music, engaging outdoor activities or various animals located around the nursery, their aim is to follow the lead of each individual child.

Samantha Williams, Managing Director at Nature’s Little Learners Harrogate, said:

“Our intention is to create a natural homely environment, one which allows our children to grow, develop, and learn through play.

“We intend to support children into becoming confident, critical thinkers, and having a lifelong love for health and wellbeing. This will involve reading, creating, exploring and learning.”

Speaking about her background in Early Years, Samantha reflected on how her past experience with children has lead her to believe in a more relaxed method of learning.

She added:

“I have worked in Early Years for eleven years. I often reflect on how my practice has changed over the years. I have my education to thank for influencing some of the change! However, my passion for early years came from observing the world through the eyes of a child and seeing the awe and wonder in everything they do.

“Research has proven that children learn at the fastest rate between birth to five and the first five years of a child’s life are critical to their lifelong development.”

Natures Little Learners also aim to place a focus on children’s personal, social and emotional skills, enabling them to understand the setting values, respect each other’s individuality and show care and enthusiasm for the setting and resources.

By combining ‘In the moment planning’ (inspired by Anna Ephgrave) and the ‘Curiosity Approach’ (founded by Lindsey Hellyn and Stephanie Bennett), the nursery intends to allow children to be creators of their own learning.

Nature’s Little Learners’ open day will take place on Saturday 10th April with spaces available at the nursery for children aged 0-5. Visitors are required to book a 45-minute time slot beforehand.
