A couple from Selby are hosting a ball to raise awareness of baby loss after their newborn twin daughters passed away last year.

A couple from Selby are hosting a ball to raise awareness of baby loss after their newborn twin daughters passed away last year.
Hayley and Neil Patrick-Copeland sadly lost Alya and Aleah to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. And to raise awareness of baby loss and to fundraise for charity, the pair will host a ball at Pavilions of Harrogate on Sunday 14th October. Hayley and Neil said:"Fundraising and raising awareness is us parenting, and we’re so excited to be able to hold the ball as an event to mark and celebrate Baby Loss Awareness Week. "These precious, beautiful angel babies and children in the stars should have had a lifetime of celebrations for their birthdays and important events in their lives, so creating an evening in which people can come together to honour them is something we’re so proud to do in memory of our daughters, and in their names. "We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful cause and a fun, fabulous, night."Money raised will go to 4Louis, a charity that supports anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child. The charity offered support to Hayley and Neil in their time of need, providing them with a gift box to remember their twin girls. The couple said:
"Words can’t describe how valuable the box was. We remember opening it and reading the note from Louis’ parents and realising we weren’t alone. "That was the first time we had felt welcomed into this community and the reaching out from 4Louis was so important in our grieving and healing journey."Following successful laser surgery for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome in Birmingham on 29th July 2022, sadly Alya and Aleah’s hearts stopped beating. Hayley and Neil met the girls when Hayley gave birth to them in York Hospital on 2nd August, and in the time they spent with their daughters were able to make precious memories. They added:
"You can’t think straight when your children have died, and we are so grateful we were able to collect locks of the girls’ hair, make hand and footprints, imprints and more. "These are the most treasured things we possess, which we cherish so dearly, and being able to take photos, having teddies to give the girls and a story to read them meant such a lot."The Baby Loss Awareness Ball will be held from 6:30pm on Sunday 14th October 2023 at Pavilions of Harrogate.
