Alfie Boe 'thrilled but nervous' ahead of Harewood House performance

Actor and singer Alfie Boe has said he is both 'thrilled and nervous' to perform at Harewood House tonight.

Actor and singer Alfie Boe has said he is both 'thrilled and nervous' to perform at Harewood House tonight (Friday). Alfie will be opening at the Picnic Proms event, joined by special guests Louise Dearman and Sophie Evans. And in what will be his first performance in the UK since last August, Alfie told Your Harrogate he has mixed emotions about getting back on stage. He said:

"I think its the first gig in England I’ve done since last August - I think that was the last time I performed live at home.

"I’m thrilled to be performing after this crazy time, although I’m a bit nervous as I’ve not performed for a while!

"I think everybody is going to want a good time, they’re going to want to listen to happy, vibrant, up-tempo music.

"There’s going to be those emotional moments as well but predominantly I want people to have so much fun."

Although he was born in Lancashire, Alfie is familiar with Harewood House, where he'll be performing from 8pm this evening. He said:

"I know Harewood House well, although I’ve not played there before. It’s such a beautiful setting, it’s going to be a wonderful evening.

"The thing I like most about my job is getting in front of an audience - there’s no replacement for that. It’s what I was born to do. I love seeing their faces, seeing their reactions and hearing them sing along."

"It’s been difficult for a lot of performers - mainly the younger ones who have just started in the business and are trying to build their careers.

"It’s been tough on theatre but it’s not life and death on our side, there’s a lot of people who have had it a lot worse.

"My heart goes out to all those people who have lost loved ones over this dreadful time."

Alfie's performance at the Picnic Proms event starts tonight (Friday 3rd September) from 8-10pm.
