The 2024 Olympic Games are set to take place in France later this month - and a number of athletes from Harrogate will be representing Great Britain.
The famous competition gets underway on 26th July, running until 11th August.
And TeamGB, which includes athletes from across the UK, is aiming to be amongst the medals again.
The UK bagged 64 medals in Tokyo three years ago and is targeting between 50 and 70 medals this time around.
So ahead of the competition, which Harrogate athletes have been selected for Team GB?
Georgie Brayshaw – Quadruple Sculls
Georgie, who went to school in Harrogate, will represent Team GB at Paris 2024, 15 years after a serious horse riding accident placed her into a coma.
The 30-year-old recently broke the world record for 5km on the RP3 rowing machine, another accolade to add to her medal collection that includes world and European gold with the women’s quadruple sculls squad.
Jacob Fincham-Dukes – Long Jump
Harrogate-born Jacob attended Oklahoma State University, where he became the college’s jump indoor record holder and graduated with a Masters in business administration.
He sealed a spot at his first Olympic Games this summer in Paris by retaining his national title in Manchester.
Jacob also happens to be the son of North Yorkshire Sport Trustee, Andy Dukes.
Harry Hepworth – Gymnastics
Born in Harrogate and raised in Leeds, Harry took up gymnastics aged 8 after being diagnosed with Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease.
But even after being sidelined for three years due to the condition, he refused to give up.
Harry played his part in team silver from the 2024 European Championships to fuel hope for his Olympic debut at Paris 2024.
Jack Laugher – Springboard
This will be Jack’s fourth Olympics after being awarded bronze, silver and gold medals in previous games.
He was born in Harrogate and went to school at Ripon Grammar School, whilst honing his diving talents at Harrogate Hydro.
His most recent medal was at the 2023 World Championships in Japan, scooping silver in the men's 3m synchro alongside Anthony Harding to qualify Team GB a quota place for Paris 2024.
George Mills – 1500m Athletics
1500m runner George Mills is the eldest son of former Leeds United footballer Danny Mills.
He won his first British title at the 2020 UK Athletics Championships and moved to third on the British mile all-time list in September 2023 with a time of 3:47.65.
He stormed to 5,000m European silver in 2024 to set up a perfect run-in to his maiden Olympics in Paris.
