Vernon Kay has been announced as a major new addition to the lineup for this summer's Symphonic Ibiza event at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
The broadcaster and DJ will bring his BBC Radio 2 Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour to the open-air concert on Saturday 15th August, joining what organisers say is already set to be one of the town’s biggest summer events.
Vernon's live show, which celebrates classic 90s dance music, will feature before the main Symphonic Ibiza production in the Show Ring.
Best known for presenting BBC Radio 2’s weekday mid-morning programme and Dance Sounds of the 90s, Vernon's live tour includes club anthems, singalong tracks and dance classics from the decade.
The announcement means audiences attending the event will now see two full-length performances across the evening.
Vernon Kay said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing BBC Radio 2’s Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour to Harrogate this summer.
"The 90s gave us some of the greatest dance records ever made and there’s nothing better than getting out in front of a big crowd to celebrate them properly.
"It’s going to be such a brilliant night and I can’t wait to be part of it.”
Freddy White, founder of Yorkshire-based company Sound & White and lead promoter of Symphonic Ibiza, said:
“We’re thrilled to be welcoming Vernon to Harrogate. To have a show of this calibre and profile joining the line-up is a huge moment for us and a fantastic boost for the event.
“It’s fantastic to be bringing the energy and recognition of a BBC Radio 2 brand into the Symphonic Ibiza arena. Vernon’s Dance Sounds of the 90s has such a strong identity and following, and it feels like a brilliant fit for what we are building at the Show Ring.
“Audiences are now getting Vernon Kay’s full live tour set as part of the evening before the main Symphonic Ibiza show begins, so it really does add another layer and make this an even bigger night out.”
Symphonic Ibiza will feature the 40-piece Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra performing Ibiza dance anthems from the last three decades alongside guest performers Heather Small, Rebecca Ferguson MBE and Alison Limerick.

Organisers say the event will run from 5:30pm until 10:30pm, with tickets capped at 8,000.
It will also mark the first outdoor music concert at the Great Yorkshire Showground since Sir Elton John performed there in 2012.
The event is being delivered through a collaboration between Sound & White and the Great Yorkshire Events Centre.
Graham Thompson, Commercial Director at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre, said:
“The Main Ring is an incredible setting and we have been working with the producers of Symphonic Ibiza on this carefully curated and locally delivered event, which is an exciting new experience for us to host.
“The addition of Vernon Kay and his BBC Radio 2 live show only adds to what was already set to be a very special evening, and we’re looking forward to welcoming audiences to the Showground in August.”
A portion of ticket sales will also support local charities including The David Brown Foundation and Harrogate Theatre Trust.
Tickets for the event are on sale now via the Symphonic Harrogate website.
