The TikTok influencer you didn't know is from Harrogate

TikToker influencer Monica Geldart started her journey in Harrogate.

Tiktok star Monica Geldart has amassed over 81 millions likes on the platform and now has over 1 million followers, but did you know her roots are here in Harrogate?

25-year-old Monica is well known for her funny and relatable skits, impersonating teachers and parents.

Her daily posts rack up an impressive 1 million views.

However Monica's fame emerged from time in Harrogate.

At the age of 2, she moved to the town from Sheffield where she grew up and was inspired to create content.

She attended Rossett School and became an art technician at the school, often covering classes if needed.

Her accuracy in her impersonations emerged from her time working alongside teachers at Rossett.

In an interview with youth magazine 'The Tab', Monica said:

"[My skits] are kind of based off my drama teacher who ended up being my line manager.

"She was so funny, she just used to make up horror stories all the time to scare the kids.

"Like, “don’t play near them steps! Last week a boy cracked his head open there and had to go to hospital!

"A lot of the little teacher mannerisms I do like the “girls, scuse me!” came from her."

Monica has since moved to Southport with her fiance, Hollyoaks star Connor Calland, who she met in Leeds while trying to start her acting career.

But she's maintained her love for Harrogate.

She said:

"I loved growing up in Harrogate, and I always returned to see my friends and my mum.

"I also visit my dad in York.

"Connor and I love walking in Hookstone Woods, and whenever we drive past The Stray, I remember the good times.

"I’m nostalgic, especially driving past the school where it all began.”

The star claims her passion for content creating started in 2020 during lockdown.

She saw some of the students creating dance videos and took an interest into creating content.

Her content started as lip-syncs which evolved into comedy sketches - which is when her fame was born.

Now she is soon to be wed and is still creating content on social media and is collaborating with other social media influencers.
