Ripon woman with breast cancer to take on Yorkshire Three Peaks for charity A Ripon woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year is set to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks for charity. 31-year-old Loren Fidler is raising money for Macmillan when she takes on the challenge in May. It’s set to mark one year since she was diagnosed with grade 3, stage 2 breast cancer. Since May 2023, Loren has had four surgeries and 14 rounds of chemotherapy - with two more to come. And she is set to endure radiotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy for the next five years as she battles the disease. Speaking about her fundraising challenge, Loren said:
“I decided instead of letting this disease get the better of me and my mental health, I want to use it to raise awareness and also raise money to help charities find more and better treatments for new and existing cancer patients. “This year I’m taking on the 3 peaks challenge which is a huge challenge in itself, but for someone who’s been battered with surgery after surgery and then cancer treatments - it’s going to be one hefty challenge, but I love a good challenge so bring it on.”Loren said she is aiming to complete the challenge in just one day if possible - a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip. At the time of publication, she has raised £655 towards her fundraising target of £5,000 for Macmillan. She added:
“Please help in any way you can to raise money for this amazing charity, who have helped me massively since my diagnosis in May.”If she wish to contribute towards her challenge, Loren’s GoFundMe page can be found here. She is also set to document her breast cancer journey on Instagram, where she plans to host a raffle to further fundraise for charity. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
