A Ripon pub is set to reopen at the end of May under new ownership.
The South Lodge on Harrogate Road had been closed for five months before it was taken over by Heineken-owned Star Pubs.
It’s set to undergo a £360,000 refurbishment, starting this week, to transform the venue into a dog-friendly "neighbourhood hub" offering live entertainment, food and drink and sport.
It will be under the new management of Angela Shallcross.
Andy Moore, investment manager at Star Pubs said:
“We’re delighted that the South Lodge is to reopen in a few weeks.
"It had lost its way recently and hadn’t traded to its full potential for a number of years.
"The investment with Angela at the helm, will draw a line under the past and I believe transform its fortunes.
"It will provide local residents with food, drink, and entertainment on their doorstep that previously they had to walk 10 minutes into the city to enjoy.”
The exterior of the pub will be redecorated in white and midnight blue, with new signage, traditional lantern lighting, hanging baskets and fresh planting.
Outdoor seating capacity will increase to 84, featuring a terrace, patio and grassed areas.
Inside, the pub will be completely redecorated with renovated timber floors, new carpets, lighting and bric-a-brac.
Seating will increase to 86, and a designated sports room with a new pool table, darts board and a high-definition TV will be created.
Three new TVs showing Sky and TNT sports will be installed in the main bar area, along with a new music system.
The South Lodge will also host quiz nights, live entertainment and family events throughout the year.
