It was another record-breaking Knaresborough Tractor Run yesterday (Sunday) as hundreds of tractors paraded through the Harrogate district for charity.
The annual event, which began in 2012, returned to raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
And organisers have revealed it was a record-breaking turnout, with 423 tractors making up the convoy.
The event, which has raised more than £134,000 for charity, started at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground before heading towards Pateley Bridge, taking in Knaresborough, Burton Leonard, Markington and Fellbeck.
Hundreds of spectators lined the streets to show their support - and they were treated to the event’s first DJ Trailer, manned by Your Harrogate staff and DJ Mark Green.
Among those on board was the team from event sponsors Simon Graeme Auto Service Centre.
Simon told Your Harrogate:
“The work that all the people have done behind the scenes to put on the event is just amazing. It’s always great to see the community coming together.”
The committee behind the annual event are a non-profit organisation, registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and run by volunteers, all from an agricultural background.
Among those was started the event in 2012 was local farmer Michael Spink, who later died in an accident in January 2017 at the age of 24.
The event has continued in his memory every year since.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance Regional fundraiser Clare Deacon Claire Deacon said:
“I just love the fact that everybody comes together. Going from the showgrounds, from one to another, and seeing the people on the streets donating money, it’s a true family event.
“The fact that the event has raised more than £134,000 to date is just incredible.”
One famous face among the convoy was TikTok star Joe Seals, who also has 30,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Speaking about the event, Joe told Your Harrogate’s Pete Egerton:
“It’s just a way to show our appreciation to Yorkshire Air Ambulance who do a lot for farmers.
“We’re often in rural areas where the ambulance just can’t get to us.
“I know people that have been helped out by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, it’s just a fantastic cause to be supporting.”
