Record-breaking Glitter Ball raises £215,000 for children's hospice

Martin House's annual Glitter Ball was held at Rudding Park.

A record-breaking charity ball has raised more than £215,000 for a local children’s hospice.

Martin House’s annual Glitter Ball event was held at Rudding Park earlier this month, with guests enjoying a night of food, dancing and auctions.

It was hosted by TV presenter Christine Talbot, whilst former England manager Gareth Southgate was among the guests.

And a record-breaking £215,000 was raised, which will support Martin House’s BUILD project to extend its facilities.

Clair Holdsworth, chief executive of Martin House, said:

"It was an incredible evening– the Glitter Ball is a vital event for us and is testament to the generosity and support we receive on the evening.

"We can’t thank our supporters enough for their help raising our record total."

The Glitter Ball was held in aid of THE BUILD - a £21.9m project to transform the hospice.

The complex needs of children living with life-shortening conditions has changed, and so THE BUILD will provide a purpose-built space to allow the hospice to continue its work.

Jack Harrison, a Martin house dad and speaker at the ball, said:

“I hope people will support THE BUILD because it’ll become an amazing place for children like Thomas.

“It’s already amazing, but this is going to make it absolutely super. Martin House is a lifeline for me and my family.

“The care they provide is second to none, a support we rely on.

“I hope anyone who is able to will support THE BUILD to ensure the facilities at the hospice match the exceptional care offered around the clock to us and to other families.”
