Yorkshire Water has revealed the closure of Halfpenny Lane in Knaresborough is due to incomplete repair work in need of attention.
The road was closed on Monday (20th January) and is expected to remain for two weeks, with an estimated completion date set for 6th February.
And Yorkshire Water has revealed work is needed to fully complete a previous sewer repair, which was considered too close to a gas pipe.
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said:
“We are currently conducting a repair to a sewer on Halfpenny Lane to prevent any potential impact on customers, and for the safety of our teams and of local residents and road users, a road closure is required.
“We previously conducted work on Halfpenny Lane, but we were unable to fully complete the repair at the time due to the location of a gas pipe close to our sewer network.
“We are now working quickly to minimise any impact, and will continue working with Northern Gas Networks to remove the redundant gas pipe so that we can access and repair the sewer, and reopen the road as soon as possible.
"We understand how inconvenient this road closure will be and thank customers for their ongoing patience.”
