Harrogate’s Rachel Daly was named the 10th best player in women’s football at the Ballon D’Or awards in Paris last night (Monday).

The annual awards ceremony names the best players from across the world. And 31-year-old Rachel was one of just two English footballers named in the top 10. Her international teammate Mary Earps was ranked number 5. The overall winner was Spain and Barcelona player Aitana Bonmati, who was part of the World Cup-winning squad that beat England in the final. Aston Villa Women star Rachel ended the season as the top scorer in the WSL after netting 22 goals. She was also named PFA Players' Player of the Year. Speaking after her inclusion in the 30-woman shortlist, Rachel said:
“Wow, to be nominated for this award amongst some of the best players in the world is such a phenomenal honour.”During a remarkable season, Rachel helped England reach the final of the World Cup, scoring her first World Cup goal in the process.
